David is co-owner and director of Rees Mellish and has worked in the construction industry for over 30 years, gaining a wealth of experience in all forms of property development. His training took place with one of the UK’s largest and most reputable construction companies of the time, Higgs and Hill.
From there, he qualified at the Chartered Institute of Building and at the age of 21 formed his own Project Management Consultancy. This grew over the years, before partnering with Mark Rees in May 2000.
David has extensive experience dealing with all aspects of construction, specialising in the management of complex projects from commercial office buildings, to hotels, to extensive out of town residential developments.
Chartered Construction Manager
Shailesh’s experience is global and extensive, with previous projects taking him all the way to the Caribbean where he looked after large-scale hotel projects on four islands. From there, he worked on £200 million projects in India, before managing large scale residential schemes across the UK. His experience spans 35 years he is a Chartered Construction Manager.
The second co-owner and director of Rees Mellish, Mark also has over 30 years experience in the construction industry. A former partner at a prestigious London quantity surveying practice, Mark is a chartered surveyor and member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, with a BSc in Quantity Surveying.
Throughout his career, he has gained considerable experience in all aspects of property development and construction management right across the UK.
Mark uses his skill set on projects to ensure projects are completed for agreed budgets with a view to fully maximising end value. Mark has worked on various sized developments and managed funding from public bodies, financial institutions as well as private investors.
In 1999, Phil joined Willis operating in property insurance . After four years he transferred his skill
set to Carrot Ltd, a niche residential developer based in Clerkenwell, where he focused on identifying new development opportunities as well as managing the projects throughout the pre-design phase.
After six years at Carrot, Phil left to join Stirling Ackroyd, a City fringe agency, where he worked in their
investment and development team. His key disciplines were land and development sales for
consented and unconditional opportunities and investment deals comprising of block purchases of
existing stock and prebuilt units. In late 2010 Phil left to work for himself and was contracted on a
consultancy basis by companies and individuals helping to structure property deals; sourcing sites,
securing equity, and agreeing pre-sales including the correct design input to maximise GDV.
More recently Philip has worked for Rees Mellish using the skill set above as a Design Coordination Manager.
Lead Quantity Surveyor
David is the lead Rees Mellish Surveyor and a chartered QS with over 25 years experience. Initially at London practice, David then moved to Robinson Low Francis before joining Rees Mellish.
Ann has been a core member of the Rees Mellish team since 2009. Ann’s experience in the retail buying industry and then Office Management made her the ideal person to take on a role as Project Administrator and Office Manager. Ann’s role at Rees Mellish is extremely varied and challenging taking on everything from product research and purchasing to health and safety management .
Alice covers all aspects of buying, purchasing and procurement, with previous experience working to tight budgets. She plays a crucial role in ensuring that quality materials are purchased for the most cost efficient prices.
Alice is a rained book keeper and these skills have seen her take over all invoicing and credit control aspects of the business.
